I am in Love.......

with these two kitchens, it is like someone reached into my mind and took out what I have always dreamed about my future kitchen.
A friend of mine is painting her kitchen and we were looking for color inspirations,I stumbled upon these two pics and had to share them with you all.
**Sigh** aren't they just perfect.
If I had to choose one I think it would be this second photo.

God thinks He is just SO Funny!

Most of you, dear readers, already know that I am a farmers' wife.
However there a bit of a story to tell.
As a young lady growing up in Rural North central Idaho, I said quite a few times that I would NEVER marry a farmer.
Never ever say never.
Because God does have a sense of humor, for one Sunday while I was in church, who but strode in but a bolo tie wearing farm boy.
And no,it wasn't love at first sight, well, not for me.
He pursued me like a hound dog on a trail, and did so for a whole year before I would finally agree to go on a date with him ( I was an independent woman who thought she didn't need a man)
Now while I happily have eaten the words of my naive youth, I have a bit of advice for any young women out there: If you are ever to say NEVER then please put it in front of one of the following phrases " I will NEVER marry a wealthy business man" or "I will never marry a man who owns a vacation home on the beach" or " I will never marry a fella who looks just like Sawyer off of LOST"
But,whatever you do, do not say you would never marry a farmer or you could wind up just like
me, Happliy Ever After.

Soft Flour Tortillas

Manly and I just love these yummy, fluffy ,warm tortillas and they are so easy to make!
(if you have a family you might want to double the recipe, because these will disappear shortly after they leave the skillet:)

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup water
3 Tbsp. olive oil

In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together, add water and oil.
Stir to combine.
Turn onto a floured surface,knead 5-6 times.
Roll out into a circle about 7 inch's wide.
In a large non-stick frying pan (I use a cast iron pan)coated with cooking spray, cook tortillas over medium heat for about one minute on each side, until puffy and lightly browned.
Keep warm till serving(if they even make it to the table;)
Makes 8 tortillas.

Blue Jeans and Apron Strings

Country livin' to me is:
Front Porch sitting

Being barefoot

Going to get the mail and talking with my neighbor for a half an hour

Driving to town, and stopping to help my neighbors because their cows are loose

Wearing an apron over my blue jeans

What does country livin' mean to you?
(city folks don't be shy, country livin' is a state of mind that you can have even in the city:)

The Best Hamburger Buns

I like making my own hamburger buns, and this is the best recipe I have found.

Very tasty, easy and quick! (you will have fresh hamburger buns in less than an hour!)

I have made this recipe with whole wheat flour instead of white flour and they turned out just fine(did not raise quite as high, but were still yummy:)

Ingredients:

1 cup milk

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup butter

4 1/2 cups flour

1 package instant yeast(or 2 and 1/4 teaspoons)

2 tablespoons sugar

1 1/2 teaspoon salt

1 egg

Directions:

In small saucepan, heat milk, water and butter till it reaches 120 degrees.
In large bowl mix together 1 3/4 cup flour, yeast, sugar and salt, Blend in milk mixture, add egg.
Stir in rest of flour,1/2 cup at a time, till dough has pulled together.
Turn out onto lightly floured surface, knead till smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
Divide into 12 equal pieces, shape into balls and place on greased baking sheet.Flatten slightly.
Cover and let rise for 30-40 minutes.
Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
