The Washroom

The Bathroom tends to be an overlooked room when it comes to decorating at some times.

The rest of the home we have a specific style running throughout.

Sometimes we forget to include the bathroom in on this.

So, here are some pictures of a Country Style Bathroom to go with the rest of our Country Style Home.

I do like this following one a lot, I love the light blue and the use of the china plates as decor, which I never would have thought of using in a wash room.

I like the small Chandelier in this bathroom and of course, that gorgeous tub.

I found this following bathroom quite interesting, I never would have thought of using corrugated metal in my shower.

Of course, If you really want to go with a Country Style Bathroom you would have the following......

Which one is your favorite, and does your Washroom's style follow along with the rest of the houses?

Precious Treasure from the Back of My Freezer.....

Spring has Sprung.

I saw a Robin today.

I know that spring has arrived every year after winter at some point.

But, I am never positive till I see that first Robin.

So, I hoard foods.

Yes, every year, I put away certain foods in my freezer, that I save in case the winter is too unbearable or just plain never ends.(you never can be to safe:)

These precious items are: Wild Asparagus, Strawberries and Rhubarb.

Recently, I felt secure enough that spring was here to pull one of these precious items out from the back of my freezer and use it to make these scrumptious bars.

Rhubarb Cheesecake Squares

(or what I like to call: "What God serves to you as you walk through the gates of Heaven")

1 1/2 cups flour

1/2 cup old fashioned oats

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup butter

1 pkg cream cheese,softened

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp vanilla

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp nutmeg

1 egg,lightly beaten

1 1/2 cups finely chopped rhubarb, fresh or frozen (if using frozen, thaw before adding to batter)

In small bowl, combine flour, oats and brown sugar.

Cut in butter till crumbly.

Set aside one cup of the crumb mixture, press the remaining amount onto the bottom of a 9 inch square baking pan.

For the filling, cream together the cream cheese, and sugar till smooth.

Beat in salt, vanilla and spices.

Add egg, beat on low speed till just combined.

Stir in rhubarb.

Pour over crust and sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over the top.

Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.

Cool for a couple of hours before cutting into bars.

Hope you all are getting some signs of spring your way!

I am going to start a Knitting Class in April, its knitting socks with the Magic Look technique, I have never done this before.

Also, right now I am in between projects, I am wanting to knit something lighter and more spring like.

Any ideas?

What projects are you working on?

Anything Springy?

Awake!

AWAKE, thou wintry earth-

FLING OFF thy sadness!
Fair vernal flowers, LAUGH forth

~May the Luck of the Irish be with You~

I love St. Patricks Day.
It probably is my favorite Holiday.
I know a lot of people think thats weird.
And no, its not because I love Green Beer or anything like that.
Manly and I are part Irish.
I am proud of my Irish heritage, and this day is a good day to remember where you came from.

This St. Patty's Day has special meaning to me.
Because of my Grandfather that recently left this world to go home.
He was Irish.
A stubborn, hardworking Irish Man that loved Corned Beef so much that he would attend 3-4 Corned Beef Dinners at the Catholic churches and eat so much Corned Beef he would get gout.
Every Year!
Willingly.

I have never been to Ireland.
Always wanted to go.
Since I was a little girl.
However, I have never felt the pull more now that my Grandfather is gone.
I feel like the Old Country is calling me.
I need my roots.
I need to walk where my ancestors have walked.

But, today,
I simply will celebrate my Irish Heritage.
I will lift up my glass to the heavens, and gorge myself on Corned Beef.........

Because, thats what real Irishmen do.

Happy St. Patricks Day, Folks

A World of White

I know that you folks are probably wanting to be done with winter.

However, I realized that I have not shared with you all any winter pics of my area.

So, here are a few pics of what my world looks like with a blanket of white...

Project Update

Well, Here it is. Finally!
A project update.

The issue is that half the stuff I have made,I made for other people and have already given away.

But, A long time ago, I knitted a pair of slippers for Manly.

As you can see they are already broke in and well worn.

I have been making a lot of these little Satin Flowers, for Barrettes and Pins, but again, I gave away all the nice ones and these are just the rejects.

A stocking cap made from Brown Sheep Wool

A Scarf in the making, the color of the yarn is Kelly Green and the stitch is the Honeycomb Stitch

I have really been into making Fingerless Gloves lately, I have been making them like there is no tomorrow.

I have made about 9 pair but gave away all but the following 3 pair.

So, this morning, I jump put of bed as soon as the sun peeked out and was determined to take Project photos before the day got any more hectic.

Still in my Jammie's,I throw on a big flannel shirt of Manly's and decide that even though it is 18 and there is a 20 mph wind I am going to take the pictures of the projects with a pretty backdrop of the snow.

The only problem is, I couldn't get the front door open more then a few inches, because the snow had froze and hardened in front of the door!
So, I stick the project out and laid it on the porch right in front of the door and snap a photo.

Or,with the Fingerless Gloves, put one on and stick my hand out the door and snap a picture.

This went on through most of the pictures above, till Manly came around the corner to the entry way and said "What the heck are you doing, Woman?!"

Which crouching by the front door in my pajamas and mumbling to myself quite early in the morn, must have been quite a sight.

Where as he walks over, and opens the door with a big, Manly shove, and then I was able to take pics of his slippers on the porch railing (they blew off a couple of times, but I got the pic:)

But, anyway, though the pics arn't the best quality, ladies and gents, at least you know what projects have been keeping my fingers busy in the evenings:)
Also, A new project that I will be attempting soon is making my own soap!

Have a great Tuesday,Everyone!

Springtime Cometh

So, we are all thinking about sunshine and buttercups.

Well, I think we need some 'springy' looking porches to remind us that warm days are ahead.

So..........

Nothing like a bit of pink to make us feel like spring.

Come and sit on the porch swing with me, Friend.

Have a great weekend!
I hope to be posting soon on all my projects I have been making, now that my camera is in working order again.
