I bet you all thought I dropped off the face of the earth.
Well, I didn't.
I have just been a terrible blogger friend.
Here is a pretty picture, do you forgive me?

No? Okay...how about now? Forgive me now?

Ha! I knew it! no one can resist the puppy eyes.
Well, our New Year started out very interestingly.
We awoke New Years day to 10 below temps and the heat broke and the electricity going on and off.
While Manly was trying to get the heat on in the house, I was trying to bake and run the dryer and anything that made heat.
After a bit, I remembered an appointment and decided I need to get ready for the day so headed to take a shower, where as when I had my hair all shampooed up (nothing every happens just after you rinsed out your hair, have you ever noticed that?) the septic decides to back up into the bath tub.....
Oh! and I nearly forgot, Manly went to go outside and turned the door handle and it shattered to a hundred little pieces.
No, Manly is not secretly The Hulk (although he is a buff farm boy) and no, we do not have delicate glass door knobs into our home.
Ahem! So yes, indeed, that was just the first couple of hours of our brand new year!
What better way to start off what could be one of the most chaotic years ever with a little bit of chaos?
Yes, This year is going to be something else.
God works in mysterious ways.
Manly and I have been praying for certain things to happen ever since we got married.
Manly and I's dream is to someday own our own little plot of farm ground with our own little farmhouse (with a big porch! and a cute kitchen and...oops, getting off subject here)

And while we adore our little rental and God has blessed us with funds to put a little away and to take care of ourselves, for us to buy a house and land free and clear (Yes, we do not do loans folks, we like to save our money and buy things pretty much free and clear, we also do not have credit cards...shocked?) we would need to make a bit more money to put away more substantial amounts to make this dream happen before we are in our mid forties.
So, enter God...who has given us a new job, plus 180 acres of farm ground of our own to farm, PLUS 3,000 acres of custom farm work.
Which, means that sleeping and eating will become quite the luxury for us this year.
However, if the Lord continues to bless us, will mean that we can have our dream easily within 2-4 years instead of 15.
My answer to all this is:

And to thank the Lord, obviously.
However, this last year was super busy and I hardly had time to knit and read and blog and bake, and other such luxuries.
So, a part of me is sad, I want to have time for these things.
We shall see.
Just please do not think I have forgotten you all, if there is space between blog posts.
SO! what is the the new job? (besides the farming)
It involves sheep!
Yes, sheep.
We are currently working with one of the leading sheep producers in the Western U.S.
We are talking literally thousands upon thousands of sheep, folks.
In the summer time, the sheep go to graze in the mountains, with herders, and in the fall and winter they come down with their herders and graze on the harvested fields till lambing season.
So! Our job is to move the sheep and their herders to new grazing grounds and to supply the herders and their dogs with food.
(that is about 2300 head of sheep)
So, there you go!
You are now caught up to speed on what's been going on around here.
Anything exciting happening in 2013 for you?

That does sound absolutely exciting! Even though things started out bumpy it looks like it's all going in a great direction now for you. :) The girls would love to see those sheep.
ReplyDeleteLol, puppy eyes!
ReplyDeleteThat's A LOT of sheep! I hope you'll post some pics of them one of these days, and the new lambs!
You and Manly are so smart to save money, THEN buy the things you want. You'll save yourselves so many sleepless nights.
Wow!!! That is a lot of exciting stuff going on over there, i'll forgive you :) (BTW the puppy is so cute, those eyes... sigh). Seriously, congratulations, woot woot! God is awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing how things progress over there and your adventures of these new changes when you have time. Hugs buddy and Happy New Year to you and Manly!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds wonderful! I hope things work out well and though it will be tough, I have no doubt it will all be worth it for you both!
ReplyDeleteThose sheep do sounds like a lot of work, but how exciting to see your dreams closer on the horizon!!
ReplyDeleteI am so truly excited to hear this news! Oh LORD- you are SO good! I want your dreams to come true, and how neat that cute woolly sheep are a part of making that happen!
ReplyDeleteOh, but what a crazy New Year's Day! That would have certainly put me in tears by the time the septic was backing up- and I'd probably be laughing upon hearing about the door handle shattering.
So good to hear from you Hesper!
Hesper, here's another blog you might be interested in following! :)
